SRU Parking Police

I truly believe that the glorified security guards that consider themselves the SRU parking police, is the biggest scam on campus. State run institutions of higher education will find any way to nickel and dime their students and this is just more proof of that. There are extremely more serious offenses occurring on campus than taking up two parking spots or parking crooked! I can only imagine how much money these people make. The best part is that they think they run this place.....and they do! Every time I pull into a spot I think to myself.....what am I doing illegally here? And the answer is....NOTHING! But I promise you this, they will find something wrong with parking perfectly in a spot....probably that my wheels are not equi-distant from both lines on either side of my car. It's time we fight back fellow students.......any ideas?

Are you healthy?

How can one determine if they are truly healthy? Is someone healthy when they can run 2 miles without stopping? Is someone healthy when they can bench their body weight? Is someone healthy if they go to the gym 7 days a week? It can sometimes be hard to determine if you are healthy. Do you take a multivitamin every day? Does your diet consist of the right amount of fruits and vegetables? Are you getting enough protein in your diet? Not only is it important to be physically active, but you must make sure you are putting the right things in your body. I find it funny when I am working out at the gym and I see someone with a "beer chuggers champion" or a "keg stand master" shirt on. My question to you is this, does working out or continuing to be active do anything for someone if they do not supplement their diet with the right things?

Working out and feeling good

I sometimes find that working out can lift my spirits on a bad day. Working out releases certain chemicals in the brain that help one to lift their spirits. I used to work out primarily to put on muscle, now I work out to feel good. Going to the gym knowing I must do a certain number or sets and reps is not fun for me. When I go to the gym now, I just want to get a good burn and make sure I feel, most importantly, mentally healthy. I feel my workouts are more rewarding now and I am not discouraged when I do not see results.

Physical Education major for transfers

I just transferred to Slippery Rock from Pitt and I realize this may have been a huge mistake. I feel misled by some of the transfer advisers here at Slippery Rock. They told me 75 credits transferred and I would only have 3 more semesters. Once I sign my lease and move in and apply for financial aid, I find out that they only accepted 39 credits! I had 93 credits accumulated over the years and they say they can only take 39!? What a rip off! I feel as though I will be in school forever. A note to anyone, be sure to cover ALL of your bases before jumping into anything in life. Take it from me, I had to learn the hard way!

Mental Health

An important key to living healthy today is encompassed in mental health. Mental health is often times overlooked when determining someones overall health. For someone to function at their full potential it is vital to be mentally healthy. Visiting a psychologist can help determine if you are in a good state of mental health. There are medications and therapy sessions that can help in the recovery to a truly mentally healthy state.
